The Force at the Coral UK Open
The UK Open’s Televised Finals have a new home in 2014 at the Butlins Minehead Resort, with eight stages in action simultaneously during the early rounds of the event, which features a mixture of professional stars and amateur qualifiers. The tournament begins on Friday March 7, with the opening day seeing the preliminary, first and second rounds take place in the afternoon session. It’s all live on ITV4.
Justin qualified for the event really well (10th seed with over £8,000 won), and his ‘reward’ is a really tough draw against world number 5, Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall. Justin said he is happy with the draw, as he knows how well he’ll need to play against a player he’s had a lot of experience against.
A small number of packages – including accommodation at the Butlins Minehead Resort and tickets for all six sessions of the tournament – remain available for sale through the Butlins Big Weekends website or by calling 0845 070 4734.
It’s an open draw, so if Justin can beat Chizzy, he’ll have to wait until after the end of round 3 to find out his next opponent.
Evening Session (7pm-11pm)
Round 3: Justin Pipe 7-9 Dave Chisnall
A close scoreline, which showed how much The Force fought back after being 5-1 down and just not looking like he could find his range. A packed board 2 room saw JP suddenly start scoring as he can, and taking out some big finishes to draw the game back … at 8-7 down, unfortunately Justin just missed d16 to bring the game level – and Chizzy took his chance to win the game.
